Where to live in Alanya?
I chose the Kestel area to live in Alanya. It is quiet, beautiful, and calm. After a busy working day, you can reboot and relax. There are no cars racing under the windows, there is no crazy city drive.
The apartment we rent has a magnificent view from the balcony, plus the embankment of the Dim-Chai River is nearby. An ideal place for jogging, cycling and picnics. The sea is 600 meters away and this is, of course, paradise. In winter in Alanya +20-25, the most comfortable temperature for me. I am one of those who have a hard time with the heat.
Renting a home in Alanya: what do you need to know?
Before finding “our” place to live, we looked at about ten apartments. Don’t make the same mistake as we did, make a checklist to check each apartment. Because when we looked at the place we ended up taking, we forgot to ask about the most basic things. For example, my wife is allergic to animals, and we didn’t ask if there were any pets in the apartment. It turned out that the previous tenants had a dog, but fortunately, it was small and hypoallergenic.
The second thing we didn’t ask about was a generator. The house you rent should definitely have a generator because power outages are not uncommon here. So we have to work in the cafe from time to time.
We signed a contract with the owner of the property for a year, registered everything with a notary, and are now applying for a residence permit based on renting an apartment.
Remote work in Alanya: what budget is needed?
To live comfortably in Turkey, a family of two will be more than happy with €1,000 per month.
